# Install the extension

> How to install the Yoinka Chrome extension once it launches.

  The extension is pre-release. To get early access, email [support@yoinka.com](mailto:support@yoinka.com) — we'll send you a `.crx` or sideload instructions.

## Public Chrome Web Store (post-launch)

Once the extension is live:

1. Open [the extension's Chrome Web Store page](https://chromewebstore.google.com/) (link appears here at launch).
2. Click **Add to Chrome**.
3. Click **Add extension** in the confirmation dialog.
4. Pin the icon: click the puzzle-piece icon in Chrome's toolbar → pin Yoinka.

## Beta / sideload

Early access builds are shipped as an unpacked folder:

1. Unzip the build somewhere stable (e.g. `~/Library/Application Support/Yoinka/extension/`).
2. Open `chrome://extensions`.
3. Toggle **Developer mode** (top-right).
4. Click **Load unpacked** → select the unzipped folder.
5. Pin the icon via the puzzle-piece.

  Sideloaded extensions stop receiving auto-updates. We'll email you when a new build is available so you can refresh the folder and hit **Reload** on the extensions page.

## First-run setup

1. Click the Yoinka icon in the toolbar.
2. Click **Connect Yoinka account** — a yoinka.com tab opens.
3. Sign in (or create an account). You're bounced back to the extension.
4. Click **Options** to review your profile. The extension reuses whatever is in your Yoinka account.

## Troubleshooting

| Problem                              | Fix                                                                                   |
| ------------------------------------ | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Icon missing from toolbar            | Click the puzzle piece → pin Yoinka                                                   |
| "Connect account" loops              | Make sure you're signed in to yoinka.com in the same browser profile                  |
| Autofill button doesn't appear       | Confirm the site is in [supported sites](/extension/supported-sites); reload the page |
| Chrome says "not from the web store" | Normal for sideloaded builds; click the warning → *Keep*                              |

## Uninstall

`chrome://extensions` → find Yoinka → **Remove**. Your Yoinka account and data are unaffected.
